Proposed route of HS2 as it passes Wendover

Route of the proposed high-speed line, on the edge of Wendover. The 75m-wide zone required for the line is shown to scale.

On 11 March 2010, the Department for Transport announced proposals to build a new high-speed rail line, known as High Speed Two (HS2). The 'preferred' route for HS2 cuts a swathe through the Chilterns and runs right along the edge of Wendover.

Wendover HS2 brings together local councillors, business people, societies and residents all keen to fight the prospect of a high-speed rail line destroying the Chilterns. Our objectives, along with those of over 40 local groups around the country, are to fight the HS2 proposals and protect our communities from the huge social, financial and environmental impact of them.
