The Government has announced that it is pressing ahead with its plan to build a new high-speed rail line. HS2, the ultra-high-speed rail line, will cut a swathe through the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and cost the country more than £32 billion to build. That’s more than one thousand pounds from every household in the UK.
