Our mission is to prevent HS2 destroying the Chilterns, an area of outstanding natural beauty, by demonstrating to The Government and the public that a high-speed rail link between London and Birmingham through the Chilterns is not in the national interest; we will promote a better alternative which meets the UK’s transport needs more quickly and cheaply and is more sustainable than the proposals put forward by HS2 Ltd.
To that end, we intend to:
- Seek better alternatives to the current HS2 proposals, which we consider to be flawed technically, environmentally, and financially
- Co-ordinate our local activities with other interested parties nationally so that our view is clearly understood by The Government and the public at large
- Challenge the current Government’s position through the strength of public opinion and appropriate legal action in the UK or European courts
We are building a team of people who can undertake and support activities locally and, by working with other local groups across the country and with the national campaigning organisations the HS2 Action Alliance and Stop HS2, ensure that Wendover’s interests are recognised and taken into account at a national level.
