Community Working Group

Our role is to raise and maintain public awareness about the evolving HS2 proposals and the work being carried out on behalf of Wendover and the surrounding area.  We build on this awareness to encourage community action to support opposition to the current HS2 proposals. By working with other local groups and organisations across the country we ensure that Wendover’s interests are recognised and taken into account at a National level.

We aim to do this in four ways:

  • Awareness – making sure that people in the Wendover area know that there is a high speed railway proposal that could affect them, and how to find out more about it
  • Information – making the facts available, with projects such as producing and distributing brochures locally, manning public information stalls, and making information available on the Internet through this website
  • Engagement – seeking support from the local community, and working with other similar groups nationally so that we can use all the available skills and resources to the best effect
  • Activation – encouraging people to undertake simple actions that make sure the voice of Wendover is heard at the highest levels, to influence those in control of the proposals

We welcome your support – whatever you have to offer.

We’re interested in hearing from people with special skills who can help us understand national infrastructure railway projects, people who are willing to help organise community events (we’re meeting fortnightly), people who can lend a hand occasionally, and also people who just want to be kept in touch through our mailing list.

If you would like to be involved, please contact us.
